How to Permanently Remove Copilot From Excel (It Keeps Coming Back? Here's the Fix)

Why Copilot keeps coming back

The popular advice — File > Options > Copilot > uncheck “Enable Copilot” — works for a day. Then a major Office update rolls through and silently flips it back on. Microsoft has done this repeatedly. The settings toggle lives in user preferences that updates routinely reset.
